Is Now

After a long hiatus, LiVE WORK is re-opening at a new location on the Peninsula in San Francisco Bay Area. Re-imagined to reflect the current interests in my life, and to serve the community in the Peninsula better, this heralds the Second Phase of this project space. While it continues to operate with its main principle of valuing the process over the end product, now it has a more integrated and comprehensive vision of celebrating life as its focus. As a result, now it produces events that span Art Performances, artist residencies that result in live events, musical performances, literary events, spiritual journeys, and any other forms of celebrating life in a creative spirit. Hence the new name for the project space, "Life As".

~~~ The Re-Opening Event
- Gumbo Twist ~~~
An evening of art performances, literary events, gumbo cooking and other food creating activities, dance, musical recitals, conga and percussion performances, drum circles, and talent shows of all sorts in celebration of life.
We will be having a juried contest, with a CASH PRIZE (!), for any creative works in response to any interpretation of the theme "Gumbo Twist". We choose these words as the theme to reflect our intention for inclusivity, life embracing, and celebrating creativity. Think of Gumbo as a rich mix of all the disparate ingredients, and yet when cooked well, produces a cohesive whole that is reminiscent of each of its part but so much more complex and richer. And the Twist is where your creativity comes in! The works can take any forms, using any materials you like, including cooking, food arrangement, costumes, art performances, or anything you can think of creatively. In addition, at your disposal, are the pot of Gumbo that Michael Zheng will be preparing as the main sustenance for the night, as well as a bed in the event space, and the Turret reminiscent of Rapunzel. So go nuts, guys!!
