Kiosk Project

A proposed photographic installation at the Kiosk Project, Redwood City, CA.

This is a 4-panel photographic installation, proposed for the Art Kiosk Project. It takes advantage of the fact that there are large windows on all four sides of the Kiosk. Conceptually, it will use the β€˜turning’ of the sides as a mechanism to break up an otherwise contiguous visual content, to effect a temporal narrative.

Each window has a large photograph that is stretched to fill the entire window. Due to the size, in particular, the height of the windows, the images have a physicality that feels imposing on the viewer.

The overall image is from a robust tree root system. It is broken up into four sequential parts, each window displaying one part. Additionally, texts are superimposed on the images. The texts are broken up in a way that compels the viewer to move along the windows. The four photographs each has text that reads respectively: β€œWhen a person”, β€œgets Buddhism,”, β€œa tree is”, β€œa tree.”

I’m crossing my fingers that this proposal will be realized someday.
