The root of it all

It’s well written about how the root is like the β€˜brain’ of a plant. Trekking about in the open space of Santa Fe, NM, I see a whole new dimension of this phenomenon. This is particularly evident when walking along the ubiquitous arroyos, where the whole mechanism of the root system is on open display. It is no wonder that the little remains of a Chamisa seems to survive at ease under the fierce sun - if you see how deep it’s root system is!
