The tiny chamisa

This tiny sprout of a chamisa just came out into the full sun, after an unusually wet few days. While I still marvel at how incredibly vulnerable it looks in the fierce sun, now I have an understanding that it must be ok, knowing how deeply those roots go. Still, the bare sandy patch has no other vegetation other than this little fella, nestled in the seemingly giant footprints of dogs, somehow feels a bit poignant.
