Concept and process:

First, an edge is torn on the paper. Then a line is drawn to copy the contours of the torn edge, about 1/2” away from the edge.

After that, the first line is carefully replicated, segment by segment, to reproduce the energetic twist and turns of the original line. When a variation is introduced by an accident, it is regarded as part of the line to be replicated in the next iteration. e.g. Sometimes the ink dries up and introduces a break in the line. It will be replicated in the next iteration. This process is repeated, with the only focus on replicating the small segment of the line within the immediate scope of attention, until the lines reach the edges of the paper. The drawing process acquires a feeling of meditation after a while. The resulted image might also have that effect if one tries to follow the lines.
